Statement of Faith

DACHEA endeavors to promote homeschooling of children within the context of a Christian worldview by adhering to the following Biblical guidelines:

Family

We believe that the family is the basic governmental, social, and spiritual unit created by God. In it the child gradually learns self-government, social relationships, and develops a relationship to the Creator and Savior (Eph. 6:1-3; Col. 3:20). The family also provides protection from over-extensive government and over-stimulating social involvements. We understand family to mean a married male and female with or without natural or adopted children (Gen. 1:26-28), though we recognize the exception of a single parent (Jam.:1:27). We reject homosexual marriages or homosexual orientation because it is contrary to Scripture and the intentions of God in Creation (Rom. 1:18-32), and we believe that such relationships are destructive to children and violate the very idea of family. In addition, we reject transitory co-habitational relationships, viewing them as being equally in violation of God's laws and incapable of providing the long-term nurture and instruction needed by children and commanded by God (Pro. 1:8-9; 2:1-11; Col. 3:21; Eph.6:4). In view of this, no homosexual or merely cohabitating "parents" are eligible for membership.

Parental Responsibility in Education

As parents who have chosen to educate our children at home, we believe we are accountable to discharge these duties in an honorable and responsible manner in caring for, training, and educating our children (Deut. 6:4-9). We believe education in the home to be the best form of education. Authority for such training can be delegated to other forms of education; however, the ultimate responsibility for this education remains with the parent. We believe that parental responsibility in education is an inalienable right given by God, which the State can neither destroy or alter.  DACHEA members will abide by the provisions of Oklahoma law regarding homeschooling (Rom. 13).

Nature of Education

We believe that all education is religious in nature since one's view of the world and life inevitably is involved in teaching (Prov. 2:1-8; 3:1-2; 6:20-23; Matt. 28:18-20). Every discipline of knowledge, whether it be subjects such as mathematics, science or history, will have as its final reference point a theistic or humanistic view of reality (Col. 1:15-20; 2:8-15), and there is no neutral academic discipline. Thus, we believe that all social, physical, and cognitive knowledge should have as its beginning the fear of God and as its end the glory of God (Prov. 1:7; Rom. 11:33-36).

Additional Tenets of Christian Theology

We affirm these additional tenets of Christian theology:

  • What the Bible Is: The Bible is the verbally inspired and only infallible, authoritative Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20-21).

  • Who God Is: God is one Being Who eternally exists as three Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; all of the Persons are equal in power and glory (Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14).

  • Who Christ Is: Jesus Christ is fully God and man (John 1:1, 14), born of a virgin (Matt. 1:18) and sinless in His life (Heb. 4:15); He died on the cross as a substitute for sinful men (Heb. 9:15); He rose bodily from the grave (John 20:1-9, 24-31; Acts 2:24) and now reigns with the Father (Acts 2:33; Heb. 10:12); He will return visibly and personally to the earth both in salvation and judgment (Acts 1:11; Heb. 9:28; Matt. 24:30).

  • Who Man Is: All humans are sinful by nature (Rom. 3:23; 5:12) and can only be forgiven by the expression of trust in Jesus as Savior (John 3:16) brought about by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit (Tit. 3:5-7).

  • What Man Must Do: Accept God’s salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Acts 16:31, Rom  4:5, Eph 2:8-9).

  • Who the Holy Spirit Is: We believe in the continuing ministry of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Rom. 8:1-17).

Christian Philosophy

We reject the anti-Christian tenets of secular humanism, including the general theory of evolution, one-world government, government-mandated sex-education, government-mandated parenting courses, modern feminist ideology, and abortion. We affirm that these teachings are in direct violation of the Bible and contradict the principles that DACHEA wishes to promote among its members.

Additional Beliefs

DACHEA recognizes consent of members to additional Biblical beliefs and accepts such as valid for membership as long as no contradiction exists to the statements listed herein.
